What we do
The goal of ENCISS is to improve accountability and to strengthen citizens’ voice, participation in decision-making and access to information.
Our vision is to see an active and engaged society capable of articulating citizens’ demands, and an effective state that is responsive and accountable to its citizens.
ENCISS is focused on supporting socially excluded groups across Sierra Leone’s poorest communities, especially women, young people and people with disability, to become active participants in the decisions that have an impact on their lives.
ENCISS is an independent programme that seeks to strengthen the relationship between society and state. ENCISS does this by:
- Making grants to organisations and bodies to help bring about pro-poor and transparent policies, programmes and institutions at national and district level.
- Building the skills and capacity of grantees in areas such as budget monitoring, advocacy and communications.
- Sharing lessons and experiences of transformational change among grantees and with a broad range of stakeholders in Sierra Leone.
