Types of grants

The ENCISS programme provides grants to organisations and bodies that are working to improve accountability and to strengthen citizens’ voice, participation in decision making and access to information. Our focus is on supporting socially excluded groups across Sierra Leone’s poorest communities.

The second call for applications closed on 21 February 2012. The Expression of Interest forms are being evaluated and shortlisted organisations will be invited to submit a full proposal.

In 2011, ENCISS awarded 48 grants including: 19 micro-project grants, 14 project grants and 15 strategic grants.

Our grant making is focused on helping to bring about pro-poor and transparent policies, programmes and institutions at national and district level.

Following the first call for applications in March 2011, ENCISS awarded 48 grants including: 19 micro-project grants, 14 project grants and 15 strategic grants.

In the second call for applications launched on 27 January 2012, CSOs and government agencies were invited to submit an Expression of Interest for either a project and micro-project by the 21 February deadline. The forms are being evaluated and shortlisted organisations will be invited to submit a full proposal.

Our key priorities are gender equality, security and justice, and young people.
